“aural” is a one-to-one installative performance. Through a printed sheet that explains the rules and consent of the interaction, audience members are instructed to place their ear through a “glory hole”, after which they experience a personalized performance that involves a mix of recorded, amplified and acoustic body sounds. The listener can never see what is being done inside, thus they are left to imagine methods, landscapes and intentions. The work invites the audience to take a risk by relating intimately with a stranger in a semi-public context, and to connect with the erotic without relying on visual stimuli.
