I will wear rain boots connected to contact microphones. The sound signal from my footsteps will pass through distortion pedals and a loop pedal. Using the sound of my footsteps, I will create layers of sound that accumulate and fill the space. I will seek out friction, squeaking, and clashes, all of which will intensify to become imposing and obstructive.
The audience sits in two parallel lines facing each other. I perform between these two lines. Between the two lines where I perform, there is an imaginary river.
Amidst the soundscape, I will tell the audience stories about microscopic beings living in this imaginary river. More specifically, I will draw the audience’s attention to their breathing.
The aim of this performance is to play with the sensory contrast between the existence of these microscopic beings inhabiting the river and the imposing sound of my boots.
(The project is still evolving. I am sharing with you the current vision of the performance, which is still subject to change. I will let you know if there are any drastic changes, but normally the framework will remain the same).
